Osan Air Base USO Center

The Osan Air Base USO center is busy lifting the spirits of troops and their families. The center reopened in February 2009 after relocating from the Air Mobility Command terminal to the Osan Air Base main gate. The three-month renovation expanded the center from 300 to 1900 square feet. With three full-time employees and more than 160 volunteers, the Osan USO family works hard for the more than 600 visitors they serve monthly.

USO Osan offers many activities. The center offers Wi-Fi connectivity, and a Cyber Café with four computer stations and free Skype™ phone access. Other features are the television and 12 full-size leather recliners in the lounge; a fully equipped kitchen; private movie theater with seating for 16; and popcorn and hotdog machines. When the weather is nice, Osan USO can host barbeques using its outdoor brick barbeque pit.

Free Pizza and Movie Night

Every first and third Thursday of the month, USO Osan offers “Free Pizza and Movie Night” for service members. These events give troops a way to overcome the financial and emotional stresses of living overseas and far away from home and their loved ones. The evenings are carefully scheduled so they fall in between military paydays, allowing troops to take advantage of a free meal at a time when funds may be exhausted.

It’s sometimes hard for USO Osan visitors to believe there are complimentary meals and entertainment waiting for them at the center. But this program is about more than the free food. “Free Pizza and Movie Night” allows troops to escape from work for much-needed relaxation. They also get time to mingle with colleagues from different units and branches of service. USO Osan’s dedication to supporting military personnel is vital to those stationed in Korea and we are excited to spotlight their efforts.
